MOVIES - HP, Julie & Julia, Bandslam

Well, I've seen some really good movies recently.

Of course, HARRY POTTER 6! That was amazing! Want to see it in IMAX sooooo bad! Hope I get to soon, it'll be in IMAX on the 29th I think!

Julie and Julia -- Totally not what I thought it was going to be. It was AMAZING! It was funny, charming, touching, and just a pleasure to watch. Would love to see it again. Meryl Streep was fabulous! Not for the younger ones for me, due to the sexual overtones. But, I loved it!!!

Bandslam -- A kid/tween/teen movie, but I loved it!! We will be owning this movie when it is on DVD, and I think I am buying the soundtrack! The movie comes out on the 14th of Aug and the soundtrack on the 12th. The music was good, like the story, and it had funny and touching scenes as well. Okay, maybe I was just tired (it was a morning premiere) but I cried!! This is just a great feel good movie. Maybe I'll get lucky and get another chance to see it before it comes out!

Okay, making wishes for more movies...Have 500 Days of Summer next week, then The Collector (not sure if I can do that one, we'll see).

NEW BOOK LOG!!!!!

Well, trying to keep up with books read and how many times and in what order was just too much for me! LOL

So, I am going to make a blog post once a month and just keep adding to it. Not sure if I will start it at the beginning of the month or do it at the end. I think this blog has a save draft.. Anyway, gonna get this figured out.

It won't be in alphabetical order or even in the order I've read them. I will notate if it is YA (Young Adult), JF (Junior Fiction), etc. Also, it will be notated if it is a Sunshine State book.

If I am feeling talkative I might even add a few comments.

I love you, mom

This really sucks because I miss my mom so much! I don't know who would understand, heck, I don't even really understand. But for whatever reason, I am thinking about her a lot more than usual. I just wish that I could pick up the phone and call her. I keep imaginig her voice. I don't even know if I have her voice recorded on any family videos. I hope I do. I think that it would make me feel better knowing that I had that. Anyways, I guess I just needed to let that out. I hope that I am around for my girls for many, many years! I miss my mom. :( But grateful for all the time I had her.

Mood: Bummed

Okay, I'm feeling a little cranky right now. I don't know why I feel so tired. Like I have no energy. :( I just don't feel like doing anything! Except maybe reading or just sitting around. I just don't feel up to doing everything I need to do. Kinda overwhelmed and stressed. Things I can't really relate here. Paul and I are good. :) Proud of my girls. Love them muches! Maybe it will pass... Can't keep my nose in a book all the time!

Kingdom Keepers

Well, I have found a really cute series to follow. This is one of the Sunshine State books for this year. I will say it ended abruptly though. So I just couldn't imagine that this was the end. And thank goodness, it's not the end! Kingdom Keepers is the title of the series. The first book is called Disney After Dark. The next one is Disney at Dawn. And the third will be coming out this August. Also, there is talk about a movie. That would be really cool! I can see this being a cool Disney flick.

Can you imagine hanging out in the park after closing, having all the rides to yourself? It would be so cool! Unless you are dealing with something really bad, like a villian from one of the movies! Imagine being a hologram! And you can make yourself become more solid or more light! Anyway, I enjoyed the book and all the mysteries in it!

Sometimes I really hate making decisions. Right now my dilemma is deciding which book to read. HA! I just finished Harry Potter 7 yesterday. Now I am debating between New Moon, 2 different Joe Grey Mysteries, or one of the 6-8th Sunshine books. Ugh. You would think this would be a simple decision.

Since I will probably be pretty busy the next few days I should maybe pick a Sunshine State book, it's shorter. But............. ack! I don't know. I really want to start one of my new Joe Grey books. Ah, well, the dilemma's of the great mind!!

The Soloist

Wow. What a poignant film. I thought that Jaime Foxx did an amazing, amazing job of portraying Nathaniel Ayers Jr. This film was very touching and realistic. Now, I won't go into a summary of the movie. You can look that up on IMDB.com. So, you will just get my thoughts.

As wonderful as Jamie Foxx did, I don't think Robert Downey Jr did quite as well. Not to be rude, I think he did just fine, but to me Foxx's portrayal was amazing. Did I say that already??

The movie had some scenes that were totally unnecessary in my opinion. Really, what does the raccoon have to do with this story??? I don't know. There were some funny scenes and some scenes that made me cry. I'd like to see it again.

Oh, the music!!! The wonderful music! It was beautiful!

So, as you can tell I am not a professional writer. Not even an especially good one, but I just had to share.

Hurt Go Happy

Hurt Go Happy is a really touching story. Brittany said that she even cried. Well, I cried many times. It wasn't the most well written book, but had a very touching story. It's about a girl who is deaf and her mother won't let her learn sign language. Joey meets an older man and his chimpanze and they teach her sign language. Obviously, I am not a reviewer but I think this was a really, really touching story. That's 3 times I've used touching, but I can't think of a better word for it.

Sunshine State Books & Expanding my reading library

This past year I decided to read the Florida Sunshine State books. I had realized that many of these books contained content that I should be aware of. Nothing totally bad, just things I wasn't sure I wanted Brittany to be reading about. So, this past summer I decided to read them all before Brittany so I could discuss anything that came up with her. Also, she doesn't like scary books, but since it is such a big deal to read them in her school, she reads them. So, I could let her know which books to read during the day, etc. The books were really good!

Well, they have two groups-3-5th grade and 6-8th. Brittany decided to start reading the 6-8th after she finished the others, so now I am trying to catch up to her! She's still ahead of me I think. Now the whole thing is more of a challenge to me to read all the Sunshine State books.

I decided to to broaden my book reading last summer. I tend to stick to the same books and authors. So I read a lot of books over the summer and even won 3 drawings at the library! Most everybook was good! How can one read everything and just choose?? I did find a new series that I really like. The Joe Grey Mystery series.

Okay, so this post just rambled. I think it was a great challenge for me to read the same books as my older daughter and still read my adult books. So, if anyone is reading this, I think you should challenge yourself to do some out of the box reading. It's been a wonderful experience. And you can do it with movies as well! Something else I've learned.

Tracking my stuff

This is mostly just a way for me to keep track of the fun and neat things I've done. Not to brag to anyone except to myself. I am going to try to keep all my stuff here on a positive note! Yip Yip! I am proud of the books I've read and the free movies my friend and I have been to. We work hard to get those tickets! :D Also, I need a place where I can write what I want! So, I guess I have had some fun for now. But I do have a family to take care of, so.......

Woo Hoo!

Been meaning to do this for a long time! :D One more thing for me to keep up with! LOL
